It occurs to me that my dreams of flying are actually based on the sensation of swimming underwater: the glide and flow, the arching jumps and dives. I may never know what it feels like to fly, but soaring underwater is the closest I’ve come.
The flying fish gets the best of both worlds: sea and air, swim and flight. This piece speaks of joy and freedom, for those who love the sea, and yet long to take flight!
Sterling silver flying fish necklace, created completely by hand from sterling silver wire and sheet, and recycled silver scrap. Created by fusing, carving, soldering, and texturing.
Necklace measures approximately 20”.
